    A Bible's Diary
                                               (Author Unknown)
January 15
Have been resting quietly for a week beside my owner's bed. The first few nights after the first of this year my owner read me regularly, but I think he has
forgotten me now.

February 2
Was dusted with some other things today and replaced on the bookshelf.

February 12
Owner used me last night for a short time after dinner, looking up a few  references. Went to Sunday School.

March 7
Was dusted and put back in my old place again. (I've been down in the lower hall since my trip to Sunday School).

April 12
Busy day.  Owner led a prayer meeting and had to look up references. He had an awful time finding one, though it was right there in its place all the time.

May 5
Wonderful day!  In Grandma's lap all afternoon. She is here on a visit.
She let a teardrop fall on Colossians 2:5-7.

May 6
In Grandma's lap again this afternoon. She spent most of her time on I Corinthians 13 and the last four verses of the 15th chapter.

May 7, 8 and 9
In Grandma's lap every afternoon now. It's such a comfortable spot.
Sometimes she reads me and sometimes she talks to me.

May 10
Grandma's gone home.  She kissed me good-bye.

June 3
Had a couple of four-cleaved clovers stuck in me today.  They stained a few pages.

July 1
Packed in a suitcase with clothes and other stuff.  Am going on holiday, I guess.

July 7
Still in the suitcase.

July 10
Still in the suitcase, though nearly everything else has been taken out.

July 15
Home again and in my old place. It was quite a journey, but I do not see
why I went.

August 1
Rather stuffy and hot. I have two magazines, a novel, and an old hat on top of me. Wish they would take them off.

August 24
Cleaned up, dusted and set upright again.

September 2
Used by Mary for a few moments today. She was writing a letter to a friend whose brother had died, and she wanted an appropriate verse.

September 8
Not even dusted this week.  I seem to be used only for emergencies.

October 1
Dusted off once more, but nobody opened me.
Wonder why they bother with me at all?

October 18
Taken down and placed on the centre of the living room table today.
Pastor came to call.

November 10
Went to church today and was held up to be counted.
Back on the shelf again as soon as we got home.

December 16
Dusted again but still not opened. I wish grandma would come and visit again.

December 31
Used to play a game at the dinner table tonight.  Each member of the family was blindfolded in turn and then had to put a finger on a "good luck" verse for the New Year.  Strange how everyone went quiet when my owner's finger landed on
Hosea 4:6. ("My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge...").

If your Bible kept a diary, what would it say? What use do you make of your Bible?
Is it neglected, or used frequently with love?
